Introduction
The Philosophy Program at Chattanooga State consists of five different philosophy courses that may be taken for undergraduate credit. Both PHIL 1030 (Introduction to Philosophy) and PHIL 2230 (Ethics) are General Education courses, and PHIL 1130 (Critical Thinking), PHIL 2130 (Formal Logic), and PHIL 2430 (Philosophy of Religion) are courses that typically transfer well to other institutions. Although not a part of the Tennessee Transfer Pathway (TTP) program, students may pursue an Associates of Arts degree with a Philosophy emphasis.
Students may choose between taking the Philosophy courses in class or, if one's schedule necessitates it, online. Depending on the courses taken, the student can expect to master the basics of thinking critically about value, reality, and knowledge. With the preceding foundation in hand, students will transfer to a four-year institution where they can continue their education.
