Best Courses in Air Traffic Control in Europe 2019/2020

You can usually take higher education courses if you’re 18 or older. They’re regularly taught in universities, colleges and professional institutions such as art schools or agricultural colleges - nearly all of which have their own websites. You can get a wide range of skills, for example, diplomas, bachelor degrees, foundation degrees and post-graduate degrees.

In an air traffic control program, students should learn the skills and knowledge that are needed to work as an air traffic controller. The courses in a program may cover general topics, such as communication, and aviation-related topics, such as terminal operations and flight safety.

In all, there are over 4000 Higher Education Institutions in Europe offering a wide range of courses at Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate level. With more and more of these organizations offering English as the language of education for at least some of their degree programs, universities in Europe are now of higher quality than ever before. Universities in Europe offer a friendly welcome to foreign students and to give a course of knowledge that meets their profession needs in today’s global demand.

Privileges

With this course, you will be able to fly according to the regulations of instrumental flight on certified helicopters.

Pre-requisites

This rating can be attended by a private pilot who holds night rating with at least 50 hours of cross-country or a pilot who is training for a CPL modular course, an integrated ATPL course or a pilot who already holds a CPL license.

Theoretical Course

The theoretical course is the same as the ATPL course for specific subjects, with a dispensation for some lesson hours. It is advisable, however, for pilots with a PPL license or those who have attended a CPL or APTL course for more than 5 years, to repeat all the ATPL theory lessons in order to be better prepared (at no further cost).... Air traffic control and dissemination of necessary information takes place by aviation communication systems which ensure safe and smooth flow of air traffic in the air space.

The navigation systems provide information on an aircraft's position and enable precise navigation during the whole flight – from its take-off from the departure aerodrome to the landing at the destination aerodrome. Surveillance equipment and systems are used for the surveillance of the aircraft and their traffic in the air. The most traditional surveillance devices are radars but, alongside, new technologies are taken into use as well – ADS-B and MLAT systems.

During their studies the students of the speciality of Aviation Communication and Navigation Systems Management (the technicians and engineers-to-be) learn different aviation related disciplines, physics and mathematics. They acquire speciality knowledge of electrical engineering and radio technology, electronics, information technology, data processing and of many other fields. During the whole course of studies the practical skills in the management of the systems, the ability to evaluate technical parameters and the skills in testing the devices and equipment are developed. ... In the speciality of Air Traffic Services it is possible to specialize to become an Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) whose task is to ensure regular and smooth air traffic in the air space of the country. Air Traffic Control Officers are responsible for arranging safe and efficient air traffic. They manage en-route traffic, help pilots pass other aircraft, find a safe route through the fog or stormy weather and, finally, land safely at the aerodrome. Depending on their rating ATCOs work in different air traffic control units. The studies of the speciality of Air Traffic Services are organised by the Academy Air Traffic Service Training Department. All of the members of our teaching staff have experience in real air traffic control. Our basic aim is to support and develop motivated students in acquiring the profession of an Air Traffic Control Officer. The standard period of study is four years. In the study process the standards of Estonian professional higher education and those of international aviation are followed. The acquiring of the specific procedures and working methods of air traffic control as well as the skills in radio communication takes place in specially equipped laboratories, i.e. in computer-based simulators. In two recent years the practice has taken place in air traffic control units of air traffic service providers. The already practising Air Traffic Control Officers return to the Academy now and then to take the required refresher or continuing education courses. The course for aviation engineers lasts for four years and the...
