The International Studies Program is an undergraduate program offered by the Consortium for Transatlantic Studies and Scholarship (CTSS) in collaboration with Instituto Franklin-UAH.
The program’s aim is to promote knowledge and understanding of the historical, cultural, political, economic and social relations between both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a comprehensive international nature since it involves professors and students from different universities around the world. All courses explore specific topics from an international perspective. In addition, classes take place in Spain, so participants can have a unique experience of in-depth immersion into the country’s customs, traditions, language, and culture.
The program offers 3 courses per block, out of which the student chooses one of each block. All students will also be enrolled in an “Introduction to Spain” course. They are taught in English and the whole program has a duration of about three months. As it is a short term program that lasts less than 90 days, there generally is no need to obtain a student visa. However, it is the responsibility of the student to ensure that he/she does not need a student visa to participate in the program.

The mission of the CTSS is to promote specialized research and multidisciplinary discussion from a transatlantic perspective. The academic program is offered only in the spring. This is due to the research conducted by professors from the different institutions of the Consortium, which offers challenging and interesting perspectives on current international issues.
The CTSS, in collaboration with Instituto Franklin-UAH, organizes an annual international conference to promote research, dialogue, and debate in these areas, and to explore new trends and challenges in the area of Transatlantic Studies. The conference takes place in the fall.
Courses
The International Studies program offers a diverse selection of comparative and interdisciplinary courses in the field of Social Sciences.
Students will be enrolled in a total of 4 courses taught in English. Each course is 45 hours and is worth 3 US credits. All courses offer a theoretical and practical component, including visits to local, national or international institutions, government offices or associations relevant to the specific topic of the study.
It is a short term program that lasts less than 90 days, there is, therefore, no need to obtain a student visa. However, it is the responsibility of the student to ensure that he/she does not need a student visa to participate in the program. Students who wish to complete a full term may enroll in an additional course from the Study Abroad in Spain Program at Instituto Franklin-UAH. In this case, students will be required to apply for a student visa.
