Introduction
Air Conditioning Technology will focus on training students to install and servicing central air conditioning systems and a variety of refrigeration equipment. The student will be taught the skills needed to excel in air conditioning's highly technical field as an HVAC technician. The student can use the knowledge gained to pursue a reliable and satisfying job in the field. With air quality and temperature control being essential to our health and modern lifestyles, it is easy to understand why graduates of HVAC/R programs often have careers with long-term stability. In this HVAC training program, the student will be taught to trouble-shoot and service many types of systems. Few days are ever exactly the same. One day, the technician might be installing a furnace and ductwork for heating a new home, while another day, the technician might be servicing advanced air conditioning equipment.
Jobs in refrigeration and air conditioning installation, maintenance, service, sales, and operation can be found in every aspect of commerce, industry, and homeownership. The skills obtained from this program will prepare you for jobs ranging from that of the semi-skilled worker who performs the operation and maintenance tasks to a plant superintendent responsible for the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems that may cost several million dollars.
An obstacle that lies in the path of the individual who hopes to acquire the needed basic and technical education to qualify for a good job in refrigeration and air conditioning is that this is an industry with many specialized branches. The field is so broad that no one person could encompass it in its entirety. For this reason, the ambitious individual who seeks a career in this field should acquire a basic education that will form a solid foundation for the technical education needed to qualify for a good job.
This certificate can be applied toward an Associate of Applied Science in General Technology degree.
