Music Foundation

This course is designed to prepare you for progression into competitive Music programmes at Music Conservatoires and challenging University Music programmes.

Course Details

• Length 1 year (3 terms)
• Course Start September
• Progression Students who are successful on this course may progress onto degree-level courses in music.
• Tutor Support Specialist tutor support available 5 days a week.
• Studio Access Students have access to our studios 7 days a week, from 8am to 8.30pm, Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm at weekends.
• How Your Work Is Assessed Visual and written assignments and projects.
• Guest Lecturers Our course is enriched by programmed of lectures and workshops from a range of creative professionals.

What to Expect

This carefully crafted course will empower you to refine your skills as a well-rounded musician, while broadening your musical knowledge and understanding. It will give you unrivalled breadth of content, while allowing you to focus on your main music specialty.

In this competitive world, musicians must not only be superior performers, composers, or producers. They must also have excellent knowledge of and ability for history, music theory, aural skills, and research. All students benefit from knowledge of music production as well as the computer software and equipment involved. Composition classes contribute to the overall education of all music students.

At CSVPA you will be given the opportunity to undertake extensive preparation for entrance auditions and examinations. All students receive two individual lessons each week with a specialty instructor on their main instrument or area of study. This one to one time is part of the incredible amount of individual attention each student receives during their academic and practical studies, in addition to assistance with applications.

Entry Requirements

Age

17 years +

Educational Level

Successful completion of High School is needed or 1 x A level or an equivalent Level 3 qualification and 5 x GCSEs at grade 4 or grade C or equivalent, preferably in a relevant creative subject.

Students who do not meet these entry requirements will still be considered on their own individual potential to succeed.

English Level for International Students

IELTS 5.5+ (no element under 4.0)

Audition

An audition piece is required for entry to this course.

Throughout this course students will be taught through specialist workshops, guest lecturers, regular one-to-ones and group tutorials.
