Introduction
This one year level 2 course occurs at Kensington Centre two days a week – Monday and Tuesday or our Chelsea Centre on Thursday and Fridays. We will introduce you to all aspects of early years practice, from keeping children safe to legislation and theoretical perspectives.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
This qualification will provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to seven years; you will learn how to support children's development, safeguarding children, health and safety of young children, etc.
You will work under supervision in various roles such as nursery practitioner, classroom assistant, and pre-school practitioner.
You will be able to progress onto Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications and other relevant Level 3 qualifications.
Learners will need good English to take the course and an interest in working with children.
Learners will be required to complete 250 hours in placement or work (12 hours or 2 days a week); you need to demonstrate a willingness and competence at the assistant level in work with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers; you will be supported in achieving this.
The course is assessed throughout the year. There are 12 assessed assignments. These could be an essay, report, or a presentation or piece of group work to practice what you are learning in the classroom.
