Associate of Applied Science in Accounting AAS Degree

Accounting skills are broadly applicable to virtually every aspect of business operations. As an accounting clerk or bookkeeper, the student will be responsible for maintaining accounting records of a business, analyzing financial reports, managing budgets, and being responsible for specific parts of the records such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll.

OCCC’s robust accounting program is designed to develop skills in accounting, payroll, computerized accounting, law, tax policy, business math, microcomputer applications, financial management, communication, organization, and critical thinking, and problem-solving. The program prepares students for entry into the accounting field as bookkeepers, accounting clerks, or office assistants. Students must also meet Associate Degree Comprehensive Requirements and Associate of Applied Science Requirements. Students must complete a total of sixteen credits of General Education. Some courses specified within the program may be used as General Education. In addition to required courses in the program of study, students must satisfy MTH 58/65 competency. Students should consult with program advisors for course planning.
