Richmond Community College offers four associate degree programs designed to allow a seamless transition to four-year institutions: Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS), Associate in Engineering (AE), and the Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts (AFAVA).
These programs are designed to offer students the freshman and sophomore years of a baccalaureate-track program.
The Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts program is designed to prepare students to transfer to one of the UNC Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) in Visual Arts programs. The Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts degree shall be granted for a planned program of study consisting of a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit (SHC) of college transfer courses. Within the degree program, the institution shall include opportunities for the achievement of competence in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and basic computer use. More specifically, students foster a great understanding of social and personal responsibility, communication, critical thinking, and technical literacy.
