Introduction
This program provides preparation for entry-level employment as mid-level accountants in manufacturing, retail and service businesses, and federal, state, and local governmental offices. It is intended for both new students in accounting and those already employed in accounting. This program has been articulated with some area high schools. Recent high school graduates may have earned credit in this program through high school coursework.
The Accounting Program's mission at South Suburban College is to deliver a comprehensive education to students to prepare for entry-level positions in the field of accounting and provide promotional opportunities for those already working in the field. Students are also prepared for program-specific certifications. Our vision is to provide students with a clear understanding of the accounting concepts, the accounting cycle, financial statements, and methods to analyze accounting information for effective business decision-making. Students will be better prepared to enter into a four-year university or increase their job opportunities.
