Introduction

For decades, artists and activists have employed their efforts and creativity trying to transform the world. This course in Collaborative Innovation in Socially Engaged Art offers an in-depth exploration of collaborative art practices, investigating the relationship between art and activism during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, emphasizing the power of collective creativity in contemporary art practices.

Through this hands-on course students will get an introductory access to the radical world of socially engaged art which, often is created outside the institutional structures of the art market.

Through theoretical discussions, critical analysis, and practical exercises, Students will learn a structured approach to idea generation, exploration and development to create Art that is collaborative, addresses political or social issues, and engages directly with the audience outside the Institutions.

The course will engage students in a range of interdisciplinary projects that foster collaboration and encourage innovative approaches to art-making. Students will also examine case studies of notable collaborative art projects and reflect on the ethical, logistical, and conceptual challenges that arise when working collectively.
