Foundation Year Università per Stranieri di Siena
Introduction
Having reached its fourth edition, the University for Foreigners of Siena has launched a one-year preparatory educational program named “Foundation Year” as recommended by the General Directorate for Higher Education Inclusion and Right to Study of the Italian Ministry for Universities and Research.
Such a preparatory course aims at representing an ideal bridge in order to facilitate students with different educational backgrounds who wish to enroll in Italian Universities and Academies. Thanks to this program, international students will have the opportunity to improve their language and communicative competence, as well as to familiarize themselves with pedagogical and study methods traditionally belonging to European contexts.
Attendance
Class attendance of all Foundation Year courses is mandatory. You will attend all courses in person in Siena. However, you could agree with the Courses Director a blind option (online courses) for the first semester.

- I semester: October 1st, 2021 – mid-January 2022
- II semester: February 14th – May 27th, 2022
Exams Schedule
- Winter Session: mid-January – mid-February 2022
- Summer Session: June – July 2022
